Other European Contributors

Elisa del Galdo, is Consultant Director at optimum.web limited. She has over two decades of expertise within usability and localisation. Elisa is also President of IWIPS - the International Workshop for Internationalisation of Products and Systems - which organises the annual IWIPS workshop. IWIPS04 will be held in Vancover,Canada in July 2004. Elisa may be best known for co-editing with Jakob Nielsen, International User Interfaces, one of the key resources in the field.

John Rimmer, is a Lecturer in the School of Cognitive and Computing Sciences (COGS) at the University of Sussex in the UK. John has extensive commercial and academic experience in HCI and is particularly interested in how user-centred design techniques are adopted by design teams and how research findings can be communicated into the design process.

John took part in the first IESUP tour of India in March 2003.

Professor David Benyon, is Head of the HCI Group at Napier University in Scotland. David's research is based in human-computer interaction (HCI), particularly in the application of knowledge-based techniques to HCI. This combination takes us away from the idea of humans interacting with computers towards a view of HCI based on multiple interacting systems - some of these are human, others are artificial agents and others are non-intelligent information artefacts.

David will be taking part in the October 2003 series of seminars when he will be focussing on Interaction Design with Liam Bannon.

Gerrit van der Veer, is a Reader in Interactive Systems in the Department of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Gerrit is the representative of NGI, the the Dutch Computer Society, in the IFIP Technical Committee on human-computer interaction (TC 13).

Gerrit will be taking part in the October 2003 series of seminars when he will be working with Indian colleagues on the HCI in Curriculum theme.

Bengt Göransson, heads up the usability design team at the company Enea Redina in Uppsala Sweden. Together with Jan Gulliksen he has recently co-authored a book on User Centred Systems Design (UCSD). In addition to industrial experience in UCSD dating back to 1984 his PhD research is titled Usability Design: A Framework for Designing Usable Interactive Systems in Practice.
