I E S U P

In Europe

IESUP is a partnership. It's not just about European HCI people coming to India. IESUP has a (quite limited) source of funds to provide grants to support Indian nationals in attending usability and HCI events in Europe.

Possible events in the next few months include the following, but many others are possible up to 30 September 2004:

HCI, British HCI Group Conference, 8-12 Sept Bath, UK
http://www.bcs-hci.org.uk/hci2003/

Interact September 1-5, Zurich, Switzerland
http://www.interact2003.org/

The funds are limited and so there will have to be a large element of 'competition' in who gets financial support. The degree of competition will depend on the number of applicants, but we would expect only to be able to support one or two applicants in each of the calls below.

Overall we might fund up to 50% of flight, accommodation and conference fees for those working commercially in the IT industry, and up to 100% for academics. It is likely that funding would be reimbursed AFTER the event, rather than in advance.

If you would like to apply for IESUP support please prepare a proposal and send to andy.smith@luton.ac.uk to meet the dates shown in the calls below.

Please include the following information:

    i. Your name
ii. Your place of work and role there
iii. Your current involvement in IESUP, have you attended one of the seminars?
iv. Conference details - what , where etc?
    v. Total cost of event to you - flights, conference fee, accommodation
vi. Percentage of funding requested, and actual amount
vii. Rationale for support - this is most important - IESUP will give financial support to those individuals who can show that such support will lead to the furtherance of systems usability in India. How would you do this?

No more than a couple of sides please!
